Dog Friendly Guide

Dog-Friendly Beaches in Lincolnshire

Our favourite beaches for a day out with your dog, from our own guest guidebook at The Barn at White House Farm, near Boston.

The Barn is close to the Lincolnshire coast but set in quiet countryside. That means you can spend a day on the sand with your dog, then come back to a fully enclosed private garden and a log burner. Here are the beaches we recommend to our guests, with what we know about dog access.

Check before you go: beach dog rules can be seasonal and do change. Always check the signs at the beach and the local council's current rules before letting your dog off.

Year-round dog-friendly beaches

Winthorpe, Skegness

A quieter side of Skegness, with free parking and some amenities. Nearby, The View restaurant and bar serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in a converted coastguard lookout or on its enclosed patio overlooking the North Sea. Ask the restaurant about dogs before you go.

Dogs allowed year-round

North Sea Observatory, Chapel St Leonards

Parking, a café and easy access to the beach. From here up to Sandilands near Sutton on Sea is the Lincolnshire Coastal Park, with various places to park and direct access to the beaches and nature reserves.

Dogs allowed year-round

Moggs Eye

A serene, picturesque beach in the Lincolnshire Coastal Park. There are no facilities, but it's not usually busy, and we often find we have the beach to ourselves.

Dogs allowed year-round No facilities

Wolla Bank

Another peaceful Coastal Park beach with no facilities. Be aware that horses use these beaches too: local riders often bring their horses for a canter and a paddle.

Seasonal rules

Skegness main beach

A classic seaside town with a pier, funfair, crazy golf, arcades and plenty of parking along the seafront. Beach access is easy. Dogs are allowed on the beach seasonally, so check the current dates before you go.

Not for dogs

Donna Nook

From late October to early January, grey seals come to the beach here to have their pups. It's a wonderful sight, but dogs are not allowed, and facilities are limited. Plan this one as a dog-free trip.

Is The Barn at White House Farm dog friendly?

Yes. Up to 2 dogs are welcome per stay, with a £25 dog fee per stay (the same for 1 or 2 dogs). The garden is fully enclosed, dog-proof and private to The Barn's guests. Dogs need to stay downstairs, because the upstairs mezzanine bedroom is reached by a spiral staircase, and dogs must not be left alone in The Barn or the garden when you go out.
